Drying of the Aral Sea

The drying of the Aral Sea was pretty shocking to me. It was a very full sea in 1984 but if you click straight to 2020, the drying is insane. It stayed about the same with a bit of shrinking in the 80s-early 90s but in the late 90s to early 2000s It dries up super quickly. I'm guessing the reason was climate change because that seems to be the source of most problems today. It was very drastic but especially the change between 2005 and 2008, It is awful but intriguing to see how much seas can change over just a couple years.
