Mr. J's Holiday Plans: A Vaccine and Paradise
On the last day of school, June 25th, our family is flying to Miami.
This is the first flight that we will have taken since our flight to Mancora last December and our first international flight since July of 2020. I think in a way, this pandemic has forced us to work from home and I wonder if I've become an 'agorphobic' meaning a person who is afraid to go outside.
The fear is not without merit. With Peru being one of the highest transmission rates in South America during the pandemic, people were getting sick at a high rate. Every time we went outside, I felt like we were playing a game of Russian Roulette and risking getting sick.
When we get on the plane next Friday (is it that soon?) we'll be double masked and have face shields to boot. We'll land in Miami after a 6 hour glide and then try to get the 1 shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine in the airport before flying to Cancun, Mexico where we'll spend the month of July with some sun, sand and good Mexican food before coming back to Lima at the end of July for staff orientation.
